What to See & Do in Ffestiniog and beyond

The Pengwern sits in a fantastic location between mountains and sea. Central to Snowdonia, we sit in the Moelwynion mountain range, with easy access to the all the beautiful mountains in the National Park, including Y Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cadair Idris, and the Rhinogydd. But we are also just 12 miles from the wide sandy beaches of Harlech and Black Rock Sands. On a clear day, the Irish sea and the Llyn peninsula are visible from the village. The area has something for anyone from thrill seekers to culture enthusiasts, hikers, cyclists, anglers, and rail fans. THE SNOWDONIA SLATE TRAIL

This beautiful 83-mile circular route takes you on a journey through the slate landscape of Northwest Wales, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The long-distance footpath is divided into 13 sections, starting in Bangor. The Pengwern is at the intersection between Section 9, from Tanygrisiau to Llan Ffestiniog, and Section 10, from Llan Ffestiniog to Penmachno.

A 200km off-road adventure across the stunning landscapes of North Wales

A collaboration between Cycling UK and Natural Resources Wales, the Traws Eryri (“Trans-Snowdonia”) is a brand new off-road cycling trail from Machynlleth to Conwy that takes in some of the most spectacular landscapes of North Wales. Full details here.
